The Family Paradise

The broad-ranging community of Rohrmoos-Untertal stretches from the high-mountains of the Tauern to the borough of Schladming, lying directly above the town of Schladming itself. To this day, the countryside surrounding Rohrmoos and Schladming still reveals evidence of a once-great mining tradition. Silver, cobalt and nickel were all mined in this region. All kinds of legends swirl about our storied past.  As you take a guided hike to local mining sites, as you explore mine shafts that have once again be opened to the public and tour the old nickel smelter, you will feel like you are part of an exciting adventure film.  By the light of carbide lamps, you will even feel like you are playing a leading role.

Since those days, Rohrmoos-Untertal has developed into an important resort destination, offering some 3,500 guest beds.  The hotels, guesthouses, farmhouses and apartments lie scattered across the Rohrmoos plateau, through the Obertal and Untertal valleys and on the Fastenberg/Planai. The views of the mighty Dachstein Massif are quite unique.
