Cross-country skiing, with those simple, yet aesthetically pleasing motions, opens the doorway to glorious countryside and to personal fitness.  As you head out along the Ski amadé's some 472 km of broad-ranging cross-country trails, you will have ample opportunity to savour your own physical fitness and the beautiful winter landscapes. Cross-country is ideal for endurance and wellness athletes.  And that is precisely why it also draws so many newcomers to the sport.  At special cross-country courses, you will learn how to handle cross-country skis in the blink of an eye, soon fully able to launch yourself onto the trails by yourself. But experienced skiers, too, can have our trainers get them up to date on the very latest in cross-country technique.

Ramsau - the "Centre of nordic skiing"

Since it hosted the Nordic World Championships, if not before, Ramsau am Dachstein has been regarded as »the« centre of Nordic sports in Austria. The high terrain of Ramsau am Dachstein serves up a trail network that is quite exceptional. 220 km of trails, freshly tracked every day, span the three tiers of this sunny plateau. The selection of trail variants is enormous and offers new challenges for all ability levels.

Fans of skating technique now also have the snow at their feet. The motions used in Nordic skating are similar to those of an ice- or inline skater.  Use is made of special skating equipment, which can also be rented locally.  In Ramsau alone, 70 km of trails are groomed daily for skiers using skating technique.

Dachstein-Glacier
If you are looking to head up, up and away, you might wish to see what you are made of out on the altitude-training trails of the Dachstein Glacier, elev. 2,700 metres above sea level!  The chances are actually pretty good that you will see the Austrian national team out there training!
