A highlight for old and young in Schladming-Rohrmoos' 500 km web of hiking paths is the

new 12 km long topic path "Wild waters".

The trail begins in Schladming at Kraiterparkplatz and goes on through Talbachklamm, passing "Alte Mühle" (old mill), the nature reserves Toteisenboden and Tettermoor, Waldhaeuslalm, Sondlalm and Weisse-Wand-Alm finally reaching carpark Riesachfall. This is the end of the signposted topic path but at the same time it is the entrance to the fascinating alpine path through "Hoell".

At 14 stations the hiker gets to know more and more about the history of the valley, gets to know about the formerly hard life of the valley inhabitants and some of the mysterious places along the path. Framed by the steep mountain edges on both sides of the valley you experience the unique landscape of Untertal and its "wild waters". Along your way there are short and roaring cascades and calm flowing courses of the river. Steep passages alternate with plane surfaces. When you take a more precise look at the edges at both sides you may also see the tracks of the powerful water.

In hiking season buses run between Schladming-Rohrmoos and the carpark at Riesachfall.

Entrance points for the foot paths are in Schladming, Untertal-Dorf, Parkplatz-Hinkerbruecke and Gasthof Waldhaeusalm.

Carpark Riesachfall ist entrance point for several signposted and partially challenging mountain tours. Get prepared in Untertal for your hike into the fascinating mountain world of Schladminger Tauern!

Walking this path you can experience the power of water in many ways. Especially in spring after the melting of snow it is very spectacular to watch. You have to take your steps carefully and you should be free from giddiness, but it is also suitable and fancied by kids. The way down is suitable for everyone also for baby buggies. Taking this way you can reach Obere Gfölleralm and the lake also without the alpine path.
