The Dachstein, elev. 2,996 m

»Simply everything« - that’s what the Dachstein has to offer, from gentle nature encounters along countless hiking paths, to the »Johann«, a daring fixed-cable climbing trail on the south face of the Dachstein with its 1,000 m vertical drop. The gondola lift makes the Dachstein glacier a popular excursion area for everyone: an opportunity to enjoy hiking, climbing, superb views and glorious nature, skiing, snowboarding and crosscountry (even in summer). The breathtaking Skywalk, perched directly below the summit station, is a new attraction, as is the Ice Palace.

Valley of 1.000 Springs

The valleys and mountains of the Schladminger-Tauern were formed from crystalline rock. We boast more than 300 mountain tarns, 100 waterfalls and 1,000
springs with waters literally fit to drink. No wonder, then, that we soon became known as »The Valley of 1,000 Springs«. The abundant waters sustain luxuriantalpine flora. Our hikers delight at the sight of rare herbs, flowers, berries and mushrooms along the trail’s edge. With a little luck, you will encounter marmots, deer, stags, chamois and even ibex. Well-maintained hiking paths interconnect hill farms, mountain inns and hikers’
shelters – the ideal setting for your leisurely stroll, day hike or multi-day alpine tour.
